What is Transmission Fluid?

Automatic transmission fluid is a kind of transmission fluid used in vehicles with self-shifting or automatic transmissions. It is typically coloured red to distinguish it from motor oil and other fluids in the vehicle.

Just like your engine oil, over time, the transmission fluid will deteriorate. As it becomes dirty and clogged with debris, it can be difficult for your transmission to keep lubricated, transfer heat and its ability to create drive will be compromised. Signs You Need to Change Transmission Fluid

Fresh transmission fluid will usually be bright red, and if yours looks brown or smells burnt, you may want to have it checked to see if a fluid flush and change is required.
